Description

Velnoya is a sleepy village in the foothills of Mount Skirech.

At any given time, the village is home to all manner of cheesemongers, chefs, and tourists.

Economy

Although Velnoya specializes in cheese, their Fondue Festival has become a popular tourist attraction all over the Borderlands.

Locations

Aside from inns for frequent tourists and the research tower constructed by the Ochre Eye, the only notable location nearby was the Spire, an old obelisk where Lord Tiresome Belovar was buried by the mages after he went down a dark path.

History

Due to the frequent starfalls in and around Mount Skirech, Kapital preemptively sent adventurers to investigate Velnoya and to see if Chief GorGo would send his soldiers there. Excited, Grak led the group to the village, talking about different varieties of cheese nonstop. While the group enjoyed the Fondue Festival, a sudden earthquake shook the village and tipped over the namesake cauldron in the the Melted Muse. As fondue flooded the village, the group were rescued by Loreeta with the Imperius. She explained that the starfalls had freed dormant energy beneath the Spire. She offered to rescue the villagers, but the group needed to defeat Belovar before it was too late for Velnoya. Unbeknownst to the Ochre Eye, the region's cognitive connection with cheese had changed Belovar and his summoned minions. Although the lich was still dangerous, he was much less so when made of provolone. The group delved beneath the Spire and defeated him handily with Vinny consuming Belovar's phylactery, destroying the lich permanently. With Velnoya saved, the village thanked Kapital and gifted them the cheese from the Melted Muse's cauldron, provided they could transport it back to the Caves of Chaos. Also, the Ochre Eye were very impressed, mostly because no one told them how Belovar had been weakened.
