Mela

Mela, the most cautious member of The Screaming Maidens , was a celestial warlock in the service of Ulaa from Ester Fal. She felt constant pressure as the one "healer" in the group to keep her two friends alive, and developed a "mom friend" persona because of it. Obsessed with preparedness, Mela secretly longed to be free of adventuring, but could never bring herself to leave the Maidens behind. She was an avid reader who discovered the myth of the Tombs of Reason, and helped Lora plan the expedition.
In Cirta , Mela met and slept with Alden Blackwell during a foursome with the other two Maidens, afterwards developing a bit of a crush on him. She tended to be jealous of his flirting with Lora and Burla , but did not interfere.
During their disastrous pursuit of the Tomb of Id, Mela succumbed very quickly to the Lunar Madness of Seluné/Shar even before they reached the Archipelago of Kos. On the ship, she complained of visions and tried to jump overboard. She was confined in the brig for her own safety after her suicide attempt, but when the shipwreck occurred she was most likely drowned because of it. Her body was located by the party using the Cracked Crystal Ball, Katarine de Masque spotting it wedged in the rocks by the Spire and covered in seaweed.

Mela was a stout, shapely dwarven woman with blonde hair and green eyes. She wore heavy golden armor and wielded a polearm, both of fine make. She wore her braids in the "Wheat" configuration, a popular feminine style for more traditionally minded dwarven women.
