Seris Fort
Seris Fort lies just outside Serisport in the Red River Delta. While the original fort predates the city, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history. The current visible stonework is only 600 years old with many of the additions only being added in the past 200 years. The fort serves as the headquarters for the Royal Army, and all new recruits in the Royal Guard report first to Seris Fort for basic training. Currently, only about 80 people are stationed at the fort, and several administrators work at the fort while holding residence in Serisport.
Architecture
Seris Fort is an imposing brick and stone fort that takes up the entire island. The walls facing out to sea stand around 25ft high with two rows of bristling cannons. Towers sit on each corner of the fort. The rearmost wall is only 18ft high and is primarily administrative offices. There's a sally port bounded by two thick oak doors with steel reinforcements. The towers and parts of the side walls are stone along with one of the barracks. The outward facing walls and gate are newer additions made from brick that comes from swampier land further south. At low tide, angled limestone supports at the base of the fort are visible. Inside, there's a large central courtyard with barracks running along the back half of the fort. The barracks are built from a mix of stone, brick, and wood. During wartime, the fort can hold around 200 people, though its peacetime occupancy is less than half that.
