Seris the Unifier
Prince, King Seris Tamorllan
Seris the Unifer was the first king of Astoria. He established the rule of House Tamorllan. He was born in 3637 and died in 3679.
Seris was born as the Prince of Tamoral, a small kingdom in the northeast of Astoria. At the time, the region was heavily divided into small kingdoms, and the Samoir tribes to the north were a constant threat. At 24, he began travelling to the neighboring kingdoms with the suggestion of an alliance and a unified army to stop the northern raiders. While he was initially met with skepticism, Seris used his kingdom's own advantages. They had recently had a bumper crop year and could offer food to peasants in places where the fertility was not nearly so high. First, one a couple kingdoms agreed to join his alliance, but that began to spread as more places heard of his success not only in repelling a dangerous foe but also in keeping the people well fed and less likely to revolt. While the initial kingdoms retained some of their autonomy, as Seris acquired more and more allies, he set himself up as the leader and that his banner was above everyone else's. Those who refused to swear fealty to him saw their resources cut off and military threats at their doorstep. Year by year, he travelled to more kingdoms and won their allegience through diplomacy and might until he eventually had nearly all the minor kingdoms under his control. He crowned himself king of Astoria named after the old Empire.
