Fletching

The bow was once a great fortress built by the ancient ones and is considered one of the mega structures.  Several millenia ago it was settled by the current races and people of Oraheim.  A  great city began to emerge as the elves and the gnomes created great lifts to retrieve goods and people from the docks and bring them up to the city.  These engineering marvels changed the entire economy of the western reaches.  The city began to really take off and the gnomes architectural prowess combined with the elves magic and style created one of the greatest cities in the land.  After another few centuries of prosperity the political landscape began to change.  Factions of elves began to form and used the gnomes to push whatever agenda they were interested in.  Xenophobic factions used the gnomes to point out how the elves were losing their way.  Elves more concerned with nature and magic blamed the gnomes for embracing science and physics.  A great conflict began to brew as the factions grew and fell in power.  Mercenaries were hired and spells and items were developed as thing grew violent.
In the year SF 2679 a great tragedy developed.  A faction of elves known for the elves only agenda called the First Blood crafted a bomb to destroy the carriage of an elven diplomat from the great city of Orahero.  The guards of this journey were well skilled in the ways of magic and sensed the plot.  The ensuing battle grew in scope right in the center of the city.  Eventually the bomb went off at the same time as a wild magic surge from a sorceror involved in protecting the amabassador.  The resulting explosion was one of the greatest to ever rock Tanaheim. It destroyed the center of the city and even the bedrock underneath going all the way down to the ocean.  A section of the Bow was gone almost a mile wide.  Thousands died that day and in the resulting chaos elven troops moved in from Orahero and Hala ending the conflict.
These days the section cut off from the mainland was renamed the Arrow and the side connected to the continent is known as the fletching.  Most of the current generations consider them separate and complete cities each.  Those who were alive in the early days know better, they know that they are still the same city and that none of their old wounds will heal until the rest of the folk feel the same.
