Tavdo Randa'aras
Tavdo Randa'aras was the 2nd Emperor of the Thessian Empire.
He was made emperor in 3520, after his predecessor Gallatan Taur was killed in battle. Randa'aras came to power in a time of major crisis for the empire, directly following the 10 month occupation of the capital city of Ghazalbad by enemy forces.
He was already an old man when he became emperor, being 68 at the time. Randa'aras was chosen for his solid, practical nature and experience as a retired military commander. After retiring from the battlefields, Randa'aras had become a military scholar and professor.
He introduced a recovery plan to the empire, that focused on maintaining positions of strength, withdrawing troops occupying other regions, and heavy training and re-strengthening. He also introduced controversial ideals that stated that periods of rest and peace were necessary for war-like empires, and should even be scheduled.
Although Randa'aras is not as famous or well-studied as other Thessian emperors, he is credited with having strengthened the empire and chosen what was best for the kingdom, even if it was unglamorous. His statesmanship is believed to have laid a foundation for the more magnificent feats of future emperors.
He died at the age of 94.
