Luna Asylum

Beyond the Sparkling Estuary and on the outskirts of Scayrus, the Luna Asylum stands. Its functional, yet overgrown form, contains the structure of buildings found in Asmain or Shaca communities in Orie Country. However, the resemblance to its former life stops there. In some locations, clay structures were added to create the appearance of beasts stepping through the building's walls. Coats of vibrant paint cover the building from top to bottom. There are murals reminiscent of the Borealis Cat's mountain, allusions to the Heart of Asma and Malmi's Tapestry, and a beautiful ever-changing form of the Goddess of the World's Weaving, Malmi.
Before Cordella Grove was released by The Grecodar, the Luna Asylum was a place of torment for many Scayruns. Found magic users were brought into this building to be 'cured' of their magic usage. In reality, these people were test subjects for scientists seeking to uncover the roots of magic.   Today, Scayruns think of the Luna Asylum as a holy location. During their rituals to Malmi, they call upon their ancestors to watch over and guide them on their journeys.   Some rituals that take place here include, but are not limited to: the annual ceremonies surrounding the Heart of Asma (the Dance of the Spider, Strum, and the Heart of Asma), the monthly communal birthday, coming of age, and marriage celebrations, and the bi-weekly observances of magic celebrations.

Some Helpful Definitions:

This article takes place in Scayrus, the eastern most region of Orie Country. Here, magic is seen as a gift from the Goddess, Malmi. The citizens call themselves Scayruns.

External Locations:

Shaca: The West most region of Orie Country. Due to the ongoing battle against magic forces, magic usage is seen as a war crime.
Asmain: The region beside Shaca. Most Asmain citizens agree with those residing in Shaca on the subject of magic. Asmain is also home to most of Orie scientists.
