Serpent Headwrap of Falsesight

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Tarantellia. After the awards ceremony, it will most likely be made private and revised. Either read while you can or avoid this article altogether.
Jhen Whispershadow was summoned to the Ruins of Kahlizon to help the fallen souls pass on. She was the first of many psychics who were called upon over the millennia to survive the journey to the ruins and make it out alive. While there, she was gifted the Serpent Headwrap of Arcanesight and asked to destroy - or at least prevent others from wearing - the Serpent Headwrap of Falsesight. Each artifact was still intact upon retrieval.

Appearance

To the untrained eye, the Serpent Headwrap of Falsesight is simply a large serpent's shed skin; however, upon closer inspection, it's sturdier and more flexible than one would expect a snake's shedding to be. Those perceptive enough could see the scales were painted with iridescent pigments that shift in the light. Unlike the Serpent Headwrap of Arcanesight, there is a web pattern woven throughout the headwrap, each strand so small as to be nearly untraceable.

Blessing but more of a Curse

This headwrap provides the wearer with arcanesight, it also has a few... unfortunate... side effects.   To start, the wearer also has manicsight, a condition that varies the effects of arcanesight. Instead of switching the way divine and glamour magic appear to the wearer, it changes over time. In this way, divine magic could look like glamour, enchantment, and conjuration magic in one moment.   If that were not off putting enough, the wearer also becomes blinded after one day of wearing the headwrap. If worn for less than a day, they might gain their sight back in a month's time. If it is worn regularly for a span, it would take a year. Beyond that, it's nearly impossible to regain sight without extreme and painful magical intervention.   Finally, the headwrap can also shift the wearer's vision to alternate planes of existence, blinding them to their reality and setting them in the reality of other's minds. When this shift occurs, they have full control of their body but cannot hear, taste, see, or smell anything around them.   As you might imagine, this headwrap is a terror.   Jhen Whispershadow currently has this item and has prevented anyone from wearing it so far. The last sentient being who wore it died in Kahlizon when they were summoned to take care of the artifact.

History

This artifact was initially created as a Serpent Headwrap of Arcanesight, however, the Spiderfolk obtained and changed its abilities to help them in their war against the Serpentfolk.
