Dragoons

'Sir we are surrounded, the goblins outnumber us four to one. What shall we do?"
"Outnumber us four to one you say?" Gaise turned, looking at his encampment. Two hundred of the the finest, the Dragoons. Armed and armored in only the finest of equipment, all with years upon years of combat experience. "Tell the men to mount up. Four to one odds for goblins? Sounds as if the fight may be fair."

Composition

Manpower

3000

Equipment

Horses, moderate armor, and all the standard gear you'd expect, rations, ammo, blanket, etc.

Weaponry

By orders of the Queen, these troops only equip the very best. Emburley made pistols, pepper-box design, so capable of five shots. Besides that, skillfully forged cavalry sabres, dwarven forged. Breastplates and moderate gauge chain are much in evidence.

Vehicles

They all have a horse, they are skirmisher cavalry

Structure

Organized in standard military fashion, the highest ranking officer of the Dragoons, indeed of Rohara's army, is Warmaster Henri Longram.

Tactics

Hit and run tactics, flexible combat, and most importantly the surprise of mass maneuverability.

Training

Care for their horse, firearms training, horsemanship, swordsmanship, tactics, terrain survival training. Five years of hard training to even officially be an active member of the Dragoons.

Logistics

Logistical Support

Food is a major concern, often have a travel with a small supply train. Generally assigned a priest as well as a a few soldiers to guard said supply train.

Auxilia

Generally no, especially not for internal objectives, but I mean they do have a few soldiers and a priest travelling with their supply train, so they can always call for their aid.

Upkeep

They are expensive, but that is to be expected. Cavalry is expensive.

Recruitment

Generally you need to have been serving, and after five years you can apply. Then comes the grueling five years of testing, training, test assignments. Little sleep, constant pushing, trying to break you, to get you to quit.

History

When they were first formed, Guns were not a part of their training or equipment, simply due to constraints. Light cavalry is meant to be fast, quick, and flexible. For a long time guns were just too big, too bulky. But that all changed in 970, with wheel-lock pistols. Now they've upgraded again, to a five shot, pepper-box pistol. They've served in all manner of conflicts dealing with incursions and rebellions, their fame earned for always being outnumbered, but yet always finding a way to win.

Historical loyalties

Queen Isabella Longram, but first and foremost the nation of Rohara.
