Lord Protectorate Azulron Rikkazmac Vithang

Lord Protectorate Azulron Rikkazmac Vithang

The current clan leader of the Dwarven Vithang clan, whom are well known for their prowess as craftsmen, a reputation well earned. His more modern 'noble' title is Duke Vithang, though like most dwarves he prefers the older traditions, preferring to be called Protectorate Azulron, or if one were to insist on being pretentious, Lord Protectorate, milord, Protectorate Vithang, or even Lord Protectorate Vithang would be acceptable. He is known to respond poorly to any northerner using 't'at southern title' nonsense. He is a no nosense dwarf, about midway through his third century of life, and is himself a well established craftsman in good standing with his guild, a shipwright by trade. As the ruling noble of this estate, his clan's crest and coat of arms is present on any flags and banners along with on the shields, though the armor and uniform of any military is standardized nation wide. He is also the first dwarf to break with tradition, despite being a staunch traditionalist, in that he has allowed a 'modernist' equal voice to his noble bannerman and the region's Knight-Bishop (basically Arch-Bishop) of Sir Kartheart. That historic individual is considered by many to be his closest friend and advisor.

Physical Description

Body Features

Azulron looks the part of a shipwright, gnarled hands used to working lumber and steel with many hand tools and patience to fit and shape the parts just so, to insure no leaks or breaches in the hull. He is most comfortable in tradesmen clothing, though of a higher quality than most of course. He is on the shorter end for a dwarf, and stoutly a solid seventy kilograms of a stocky workman frame. Muscular, as is very evident, though it is not toned like one whom preens and works out to have it. Instead, he is of a much more raw build, as if built from a life of eating well combined with hard, but skilled labor.

He's missing his middle finger on his left hand, an accident with a engraving tool when he was but an apprentice nearly a century and a half ago.

Facial Features

He keeps his dark oaken brown hair short and well trimmed, out of the way, and his beard and moustache are thick, bushy, but well groomed and maintained, professional like. His beard comes down to about the center of his chest, and is thick. His eyes are a soft blue-grey, though in brighter light, some would say they almost seem turquoise.

Identifying Characteristics

Missing his middle finger on his left hand.

Apparel & Accessories

Azulron wears his cloak with clan colors, as one in his position should, but is not dressed like high nobility or in honorary battle garb, as is common of some of his fellows. He is most often seen in thick moose hide and bear hide work clothes, perhaps even with his work apron. If he is not wearing his carpentry apron, it is never far from him, and he is most often seen with it on him. Azulron governs with vigor and distinction, but is well known for the eccentric fact that he oft will have government meetings with his advisors or city council at his workshop, and will be working whilst partaking in such important government business.

Specialized Equipment

Azulron's shop and home are large, and as one might expect, right by the bay. He has a wide variety of tools for his trade, including of course much bigger ones, as he employs some half a dozen apprentices and two other fully licensed shipwrights. His shop can hold two moderate sailing vessels, and he does have a dry dock as well. Azulron himself uses this equipment less and less directly, as he does have to transition into governance.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Until his father passed about a century ago, Azulron was a very successful shipwright. He is known to be a very savvy economic dwarf, and is the number two man in the shipwright's guild branch in the region, and likely is only not the guild hall chapter-master simply because that would be seen as a conflict of interest, so he refused to enter his name into the discussion and guild vote. He is oft seen as uncomfortable with being 'of nobility' for he refuses to leave behind his craft and live a 'traditionalist' noble and ruling class lifestyle.

Education

He has full trade education, having served as an apprentice, and then an assistant shipwright for decades, lovingly learning and absorbing his craft. With this education came an education in business and finance, along with many other skills herein related. Such a long winded education, unlike humans, whom only really have the lifespan to learn the trade and the basics of business, meant Azulron's education branched into the political and societal aspects, as he became entrenched in his guild, specifically more and more into the political and organizational side of guild operations. This growth of course helped him be ready to take charge when his father passed, and because of his background as a tradesmen, it let him fully embrace the idea of economic and educational growth, breaking the traditionalist mold.

Employment

He is a member of the Suranthi Shipwright's Guild in good standing and is generally seen as the number two guy within the guild. He likely would be the head of the Guild, but he refused to run because that would be a conflict of interest to large to ignore, and he was not comfortable with the idea.

Intellectual Characteristics

Azulron is a savvy, analytical mind, with a sharp mind for math, economics and logistics.

Morality & Philosophy

Modernization, Education, Industrialization are the ways forward and the path to a successful future for his charges and for all of Suranth.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Azulron is motivated to move his home and people forward. He is far less attached to the idea of 'tradition' then many dwarves. Tradition has its place of course, he would not dare to suggest otherwise. However he sees it as the building blocks, the starting point, the things you do first to give a foundation for growth. He is a staunch Guild and Union supporter as well. It is this advancement and push forward that motivates him, this idea that he truly believes his people need to grow to thrive. Invention and Innovation motivate Azulron.

Quotes & Catchphrases
"Aye mayhaps ye thinkin' we nae needed ta innovate. After all, we been doin' just fine fer near five centuries wit' just a port an' t'e NPA agreements fer trade right! Ye damned fools. The rail lines carry at least half the trade t'at comes in an' out o' our 'ome, an' they only been operatin' fer last century an' a half! Tourism an' investment come in rarely still, because such folk nae travel by rails. Rails and ships are t'e workin' class' and bulk goods travel method. A Sky-Port is t'e next logical step ta really bring us inta a new age o' wealth an' prosperity, bringin' wealthy investors and o' course the coin they will spend when 'ere on business. It makes a lot o' sense an' is inevitable, so why nae embrace it and take part o' t'e credit fer it as political capital?"

Lord Protectorate Azulron, quote from one of his many speeches trying to sell his council on the idea of a Sky-Port in An Pointe Thoir, to get the budget changes to fund the project approved.
