Lord Protectorate (Ironcliffe Province) is the given title. Joakim Ironcliffe (a.k.a. Begigkhav (means Unstoppable))
If his brother did not look the part of his reputation, the Lord Protectorate Joakim Ironcliffe of the Ironcliffe province is the exact opposite sort. He is a sturdy and strong sort even for a dwarf, and though only a century younger than his brother, his hair and beard barely show any signs of his four centuries, one needing to search with great eye strain to identify any greying hairs within his deep clay brown hair and beard. His beard he keeps in three braids, decorated with several simple trinkets, little carved bones and other such items that are etched with all manner of clan and church symbols. His hair he keeps shoulder length, and carefully swept back, so his iron grey eyes are easily visible on his face. He shows scarring, as one would expect of a warrior, including a vicious scar on the left side of his face from an orc blade that left a jagged and ugly looking scar along his head, and took his left ear. He often is found, even in diplomatic situations, wearing his dulled and battle scarred breastplate, though he rarely wears all the rest of the armor now, saving the chainmail for if he knows for certain he is heading into combat. Instead he will be found wearing expertly tailored trousers, likely in a sea blue, or granite grey, to go with a dyed caribou hide tunic that will be perhaps a soft raspberry red in color, or a dull violet. If not seen in his more official capacities however, it will be a less formal, but well made, set of gambeson garments, with subtle dyes to match the hides to his clan colors. His cloak of office always with him, a thick affair, made from a white bear pelt, with the Ironcliffe Clan coat of arms expertly eyed upon the garment's center. He built his reputation in his many campaigns as a true warrior of the clan, and the tools of his craft are quite visible at most times. A vicious single handed war axe at his right hip, and a well crafted targe shield, the nine inch steel spike much in evidence, carefully secured over his shoulder, resting at his side or strapped to his left arm. Whatever the case, that shield is never far from him, unlike his brother, he keeps his weapons always in close attendance. Such paintings of his likeness are in many government buildings in his honor after his recent death, which has now left his only survivng son, Killian, in charge.
Physical Description
He suffers from partial deafness due to the loss of his ear (Deafness [3] for the GMs reading this), and is not exactly attractive to look at, (Suffers -20 to Fellowship for any test judging on physical attractiveness), but his scars only enhance his intimidating warrior presence (+20 to intimidate) as he looks the part of an unstoppable goliath as his nickname suggests.
Strong, powerful in build, with scars criss-crossing his body that any can see. He's as many stories as he has scars of course, making him a great comrade and friend, well liked by any and all troops.
The vicious scar where his ear used to be in kind of a dominant facial feature, yet is not his only one. He has kind eyes, despite the strong jaw and general contours as if hewn from granite.
That scar is the main one to many, and even to himself, as he does not seek to cover it, wearing it as a badge of honor.
Mental characteristics
Joakim Ironcliffe is of the Ironcliffe clan by marriage, being the youngest brother to Cormac's wife, though upon Cormac's election to the throne, he, with the humility and dignity one would expect, accepted the traditional offer of taking the clan's name and becoming the new chief, though but barely a century old at the time. He is a veteran of many skirmishes and battles, and is known for slaying Grimgallow Back-Biter, a vicious orc corsair king, in single combat, though not before the orc gave him a token to remember him by, the vicious scar and missing ear. He is a leader by deed moreso than word, and is not one to 'play the piper' as he so....fondly.....refers to diplomacy, especially of the southern variety. He is open, says what he means and is known to be a leader of deed and honesty. His peoples and clan love him for it, and hold great loyalty. His many years have been filled with all manner of adventure and duty, as he isn't one to stay at home and send others to do his bidding. That is not to say he is poor at the duties of governance. His greatest talent is knowing his own weaknesses and surrounding himself with trusted advisors and experts whom can cover them, and of course listening to such people. His humility is legendary, a rarity amongst the ruling types. It is due to this that Geata-Iarainn has a Sky-Port, for he was wise and humble enough to heed his advisors that the question was not one of the rails or the skies, as both were bound to succeed. The question was more of how much of a share and a connection to this new technology is advantageous, and the answer could not be zero. The loyalty to the dwarven innovations of the rails and of steam is clear, but the pragmatism of understanding shown by this mere gesture of building a Sky-Port in Suranth's capital, well that has proven a great boon diplomatically, and a moderate economic boon for the city.
He is married, with three kids, all grown of course. His wife, whom was his senior by about five decades, was called to Sir Kartheart's halls four years ago, which was a tough blow, but one unavoidable. Cancer had ravaged her body for nearly a decade at that point, and she was a shadow of her former self. In some ways, it finally ending was a mercy, though the loss tore at his heart, along with the hearts of his children and two grandchildren. He has since been blessed with a new grand-daughter by his youngest and her husband, and is known to dote on the youngster whenever opportunity presents.
His education has been one built of his own volition upon his appointment, surrounding himself with advisors, not just dwarven, skilled in the matters he would need to grow to understand that he didn't already. Military, he understood, combat as well. Mining was a passion of his, so on that sector and the attached crafts and goods that it fed, he was versed well enough. But the rest, well his knowledge was lacking. So he's always made sure to surround himself with folk who know the things he does not, and to seek to learn from them.
He was a knight, or dwarf-at-arms by any definition, before being appointed the clan chief, and a damn good one.
He is humble, despite being sharp of mind, and he is seemingly always ready and receptive to learn of things he does not yet know.
Like most dwarves his values are of; kin, clan, country. Honor, courage, and valor these are the things he holds dear and seeks to embody. He is not the most devout dwarf, but he does offer prayer to Sir Kartheart now and again, and attends the odd sermon here and there.
Personality Characteristics
Similar to his brother, he seeks to foster prosperity, safety, and growth for his people and nation, but with a heavier focus on his clan and banner-men specifically, so of a more provincially focused mindset, though always making sure to find ways to spin such boons satisfactorily for how growth within the Ironcliffe Province and of his people's wealth, power, resources and influence will of course aid the rest of the nation.
He is known, unsurprisingly, to be perhaps too fond of strong drink. He is also known to struggle with a mild milk of poppy addiction (opium) though admittedly most physicians would tell you that he has good reason. To this day the cut that took his ear has not fully healed properly, the scar riddled with cracks and fissure that occasionally weep pus and even blood, and cause him an unpleasantly moderate amount of pain, with attacks ranging into unbearable on occasion.
Social
He is brother by marriage to the High King Cormac, and Uncle to Morgyrm Ironcliffe.
He is known to hold faith, though how much in truth is a question, as he is by no means a devout church goer. This is not to suggest he at all worships that of the Void. More that he may existentially have the view of 'there be no higher powers with what I've seen' whilst keeping tradition, because a dwarf in his position should do such things of course.
He seems to exude confidence and charisma when talking to him and this is no charade, however he is also known to be quite guarded about most things of personal nature, and outside official channels or conversations, is a more quiet and introverted individual
He may be the soldier, and does take an interest in many of the hobbies one would expect, such as wrestling and boxing, but his true passion is one that many would not expect such a hard nosed battler of a dwarf to have. For a man who relished as infantry, even when a clan chief, insisting on leading front and center, in the muck, blood, and ringing steel, collecting scars like some men collect artwork.......for such a man, and a dwarf at that, to take an interest in the nuance of Castellan, a game designed for and played with great intricacy by the greatest military scholars and tactical officers of their times for generations is interesting. Yet he does and is known to be quite a skilled player, playing as his own people of course, the heroes and forces of old. The game is intricate, and requires many hours to finish, yet is played with but a table, some simple props that can be anything, to represent the sort of scenario you wish to run, and a deck of cards for each player of thirty cards, fifteen unit cards, an officer card, and fourteen equipment, action, or stratagem cards mixed as you wish. It is an intricate card game to say the least and one well enjoyed by those with the intellect and attention span to play.
He also has a pet cat, a tabby named Gem, whom he loves dearly.

Brother by Marriage (Vital)
Towards High King Cormac Ironcliffe
History
Joakim wasn't even old enough to remember the marriage and as such, may as well have seen Cormac as his own flesh and blood literally. They were utterly loyal to each other, and dear friends. However recently, Joakim passed, killed in a beastmen raid by a particularly old and vicious yeti, three decades or so ago. When Cormac heard, well he took up arms again, the most recent time, and led a vicious campaign against the filthy creatures in the mountain ranges near Geata-Iarainn, slaughtering hundreds if not thousands of the damned creatures. Yeti haven't been seen within a hundred kilometers of Geata-Iarainn for the last thirty years since that event.
Nicknames & Petnames
Begigkhav was a nickname bestowed with love upon Joakim by Cormac, just as 'Battlin' Bookie' was one bestowed upon Cormac by Joakim, though neither ever admitted it to the other.
Relationship Reasoning
Cormac married Joakim's older sister, so they are as family
Commonalities & Shared Interests
Most things, if one is to be honest. They were brothers, but also dear friends.
Shared Secrets
The truth of Cormac's failing health. He only every talks about it on his less and less frequent visits to Joakim's grave. Cormac knows that he'll be dead before the year is out, for though he does not show, he is desperately ill, cancer riddling his stomach and blood. Only the court physician shares this knowledge with them, having been the one to diagnose it. Cormac is ready to die, and has made his peace with it, though if he could choose, dying in his bed riddled with cancer will not be it. He would rather die in battle if the opportunity presents.
Shared Acquaintances
They have many, more than worth listing.

Towards Lord Protectorate Joakim Ironcliffe
As a clan chief, but also a Protectorate of a Province, he himself is wealthy enough, but has control and sway over a large measure of assets economic, social, and military.
