Basal has lived in Kip for his whole life and has seen it change over time. He was there during and fought in The Civil War. After The Siege of The Black Fort, he got a job at the BFG.

The party met Basal as well as Brooks when first arriving in Kip and caught up with them over dinner and drinks.
