Dwarf

Hardy folk they are and twice as stubborn. I and I don' never seen one be unable to smithy something from the stone of the mounts they live in. If it don't hurt, it ain't by them.
-Unnamed Triton Bartender on Dwarven Ingenuity
Hardy and strong, the people of the mountain are as clever as they are headstrong. Dwarves, believing themselves to be hand forged by Moradin the All-Father, take pleasure in honing their talents with the forge and chisel, crafting beautiful weaponry and magnificent tools from pieces of the homes they cut out for themselves.

Respect and Respected

While Elves have a tendency to respect their elder leaders, Dwarves respect family clans above all. Attempts to spit on a Dwarf's name might be the last thing a foolish individual might do as every Dwarf within earshot may give a rather personal demonstration of their family's craft. Vice versa, any Dwarf when asked about another family's name should have even a slight familiarity with them and their crafts. A Dwarf who loses their clan name is oftentimes regarded as an outsider, no different from an exile.

Gods, Gold, and Glory

A Dwarven adventurer often sets off in pursuit of a number of things such as wealth or as a part of a divine calling or to honor their clan. They are bold and brash, often charging into the fray on a moments whim, easily insulted but dependable companions. A Dwarven companion will always be there by your side be it at a bar or battle.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Dwarves are short and stout and largely uniform despite the location of their upbringing. It is widely believed you can tell the soil they grew in from a Dwarf's skin tone as it ranges from dark muddy brown to a reddish-tan clay hue with eyes that glint like jewels and precious metals. Every Dwarf is often expected to grow a thick beard, regardless of gender which has caused some levels of confusion among the races with greater sexual dimorphism. Dwarves are thought of as being as wide as they are tall, thick and stocky and as hardy as solid stone with large noses, hands, and feet.   Though rarely seen, Druegar, or deep dwarves are described as having a skin tone ranging from obsidian to gravel with thick white beards and bald heads. Their eyes are depicted as glowing coals from a stoked forge. All other features however, resemble other Dwarves that live closer to the surface.
