Dietrich Plaza Building

Seat of the Commonwealth Government

The Dietrich Plaza Building is the government and administrative headquarters of the Commonwealth Front of Arcadian Science, and sits in the district of Foundation Square in the capital of Endeavour. Construction began on the building in October 2472, with completion on the 17th March 2473. Initially designed to be offices for the Department of Commonwealth Agriculture and Rationing, it was decided late in the building's drafting process that a more suitable centre of government for the burgeoning Commonwealth was needed more urgently. The design was changed to accommodate the necessary chambers and HPCS (High Particle Communications System) technology. Since its construction, it has served as the meeting place for the Commonwealth's Chief Scientist and their Advisory Council, as well as a hub for various department leaders and their administrative teams. Extensions have been added to the building over the years, including offices and envoy accommodations. It is also the location of the archives and virtual intelligence networks beneath ground level, with the former being open to the public. Prior to 2520, the building was known as the Foundation Plaza Building; the name was changed to honour the passing of Dr. Katerina Dietrich in 2517, and to recognise her pivotal role in establishing and guiding the Commonwealth during her long tenure as Chief Scientist.

Architecture

The oldest part of the building itself is one of the tallest in Endeavour, reaching five stories high and constructed with triple-weave steel beams that support a framework of bio-enhanced concrete and one-way solar glass panels. The solar glass encases the front facing of the building, providing a clear view across Endeavour to those inside the building, but complete privacy from those outside.
