While at Eton, Sebastian was admitted to hospital after accidentally striking the bottom of the pool while practice diving. He suffered a fracture of the skull and was operated on at St. Mary's Hospital. The incident received widespread media attention, and caused some to criticize his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, for allowing him to participate in a sport that could irreparably injure the heir to the throne.
