Sebastian visites New Zealand.
At 23 the Duke of Cambridge, embarked on his first solo public tour. He traveled to New Zealand to participate in World War II commemorations. Before the tour the Queen set up a private office and small staff for the Prince, lead by Sebastian's newly appointed equerry, Major Philip Drummond. Drummond accompanied Sebastian on his first official solo trip as he toured Auckland and Wellington; Sebastian opened a new building of the Supreme Court of New Zealand and was welcomed by a Māori chief. The visit spurred crowds of 'many thousands', with positive public reception comparied to that of his grandparents tour decades before.
