Mythril

A prized material of warriors, mages, kings, and evil creatures alike. This material is one of the strongest metals upon the planet. Prized and utilized heavily in enchantment of weapons and coating of armor and other pieces that aid in battle. Expensive beyond imagination for anyone without heavy gold baggage, this material is not very common by comparison due to the heavy mining it undergoes in certain locations in the world. Most of the time it is applied with enchanted processes and magically lined over weapons and armor, rather than forming solid pieces.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Both refined and unrefined, mythril has a faint teal coloration to it with a faint silvery lining glow that seems to emanate from the material. Beautiful and almost foreign to the eye, it is a prized material that stands out whenever it is present.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When applied to weapons in the correct fashion, their lesser properties fade. Iron becomes stronger, steel becomes malleable, and even dragonscale armors become lighter. The metal lining makes weapons improved in all manner of the word.

Compounds

Mythril is a strange foreign metal that some say has come from the stars. It is unable to bond with metals or other materials other than a few rare cases and very specific processes, which are mostly alien and unknown.

Geology & Geography

The material is very rare, but is found all over the world. The quantities always vary, especially when found randomly out in the middle of nowhere. There are large quantities in two locations on the planet. One in Aldaria, and the other across the ocean in the southern part of Taldoria.

Origin & Source

Mythril comes from itself, but is found deep within the caverns of the earth. How deep is unknown, there could be other deposits the world over, just undiscovered.

History & Usage

History

Mythril for the longest time was unable to be used despite its properties being known from myth and legend. It was only within the Assarian Empire during the War of the Gods that the process to forge and fabricate the metal into objects was found.

Discovery

Mythril was first discovered back in the draconic years. It was considered a waste material and discarded until recently.

Everyday use

Armor, weapons, and other objects of war

Cultural Significance and Usage

Mythril holds a great cultural significance to the Ghe'tani people, who see it as divine metal from their spirits and even Ghorn himself at times

Industrial Use

Mythril is put through a series of enchantment processes once refined into a malleable form with enough heat. Once spread out and applied to a weapon, or anything, it is nearly impossible to remove.

Refinement

Mythril holds very little impurities because of its dense nature, but a heating treatment within volcanic furnaces does remove any unwanted properties completely.

Manufacturing & Products

The very few solid materials made solely from Mythril are usually ceremonial and very...very...sacred and expensive beyond imagining.

Hazards

Mythril has been known, with enough exposure, to cause a faint almost lucid madness. Miners have said that they see glimpses of the spirit world every so often after years of working with the metal. These effects do not last long, and usually just require a week's rest.

Environmental Impact

None known

Distribution

Trade & Market

The controllers of this material own quite the trade power. Expensive, useful, and intimately versatile and powerful, this material can be used, shipped, and sent over the world.

Storage

Often stored simply in crates or other locked and secure locations due to its value.

Law & Regulation

There is a high amount of thievery attempts of the material and it is almost worshiped if it makes it to the black market in the underbellies of cities. But it is rare if it ever leaves the sight of the eyes of its lawful regulators.
