Sval

"Where the Song of the Aurora turns night to day, there you will find them." - The'sa

Reclusive and varied over the long blue mountains, these warrior and spiritual tribes persist much through the frozen terrain. Powerful in each of their own rights, the Sval people are some of the more magical Cre'tani in Te'za with a strange connection with the natural world, and specifically with spirits of their ancestors.

Culture and cultural heritage

The culture is not recorded in any ways other than through the people. A long and rich storied history can be garnished from them in ancient ways of sitting around a fire with great tales of warriors and beasts

Shared customary codes and values

The most common value is honoring the sacred rulings of the ancestors and honoring elders. Most people within these frozen lands do not have much else to look up towards, and the fallen and those who have lived longer offer wisdom.

Common Etiquette rules

Despite their wayward and nomadic ways, most handle themselves well mannered and respectful. Often times quiet in public settings, especially when far from home, but not throwing, bashing, or tearing into people

Common Dress code

Heavy furs and coats are typical. Often enough these leave a bit of skin exposed within the leg or arm region, but the people here tough it out easily enough.

Art & Architecture

Art varies from small stone carvings to wooden statues. Nothing permanent or large. Architecture is of the same nature, as nomadic tribes often have very little time to set up a place.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

A yearly march to the heavens upon the nearby tallest mountains during a aurora marks the sign of good things to come. All partake in it and take part in the Song of the Aurora

Coming of Age Rites

Coming of age is the same for both genders. Proving ones worth to both the ancestors and the tribe. Young must go out and bring back a game beast on their own and witness the call of their ancestors from above

Funerary and Memorial customs

Funerals are held with large and sprawling bonfires and pires upwards to the heavens.

Common Taboos

Sacrilege against the spirits, ancestors, or elders

Common Myths and Legends

The Fury of the Storm Giants, The Great Hungering Maw

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Not often holding themselves to high beauty standards, these people mainly focus on the natural world. No much in terms of make-up is around in the cold northern lands, but facial war-paint often times is painted in vertical strips below the left eye in varying colors

Gender Ideals

Females are often the leaders within the tribal societies headed by an elder or more experienced of the group with aid of a leading male figure. Males are still important in terms of hunting parties and survival needs

Courtship Ideals

Often times the long chains of aurora's that fly overhead signal the welcoming of the spirits through the land, and many couples find this chance as a sign that if the ancestors appear before them together, they are granted their blessing

Relationship Ideals

Most find themselves on even group, aside from the leading heads of villages. Otherwise most pairings bring equal contribution to all aspects of their lives
