Orphaned at the age of 9, Alan Caspar would have just been another street kid with a tragic past until a family of Halflings picked him up and gave him a home. They changed his name, but that was a small price to pay for a home. Most of them are lovely, in fact all of them except for Jan are great. The parents know about his dead family, Jan is the only other member that knows.
The Thornwood's, while a good influence, couldn't do much to quell the boys nature for getting into trouble. By the age of 12 he had already managed to discover the world of gambling that took rest in Nicodranas. Plenty of fresh faces around, and plenty of tourists were itching to test their luck.
Alan Caspar's family died 10 years ago, in his wake Alamosa Thornwood is a man that still hasn't forgotten the violent past, and plans to get even against the bastards that organized it.
As is he only has a couple of people he'd call friends that could help with that. There's Bren, an assassin who's helping him look into the people that killed his family. Then Wynn, a pixie he won off a backstreet gambling match.
That's a large task that's currently overshadowed by another. His sister Jan had a weird obsession with Alamosa since he was introduced. He was still young and didn't know how to deal with that kind of attention, so he opted to just being a total dick head to make her leave him alone. It was only a matter of time till she started to hate him.
Leading to his new problem, a year ago she set fire to his favorite gambling den, and promised the next time they met, he was dead.

Family Nemo Thornwood: (he/him) Alamosa's father, runs a catering business in Nicodranas. Thinks food is art, and is how Alamosa got acquainted with gambling dens.
Jonan Thornwood: (she/her): Often referred to as 'Ma. She's a singer that's the reason Alamosa has a flair for the dramatic.
Rosalie Thornwood: (she/her) One of Alamosa's moms. She's the one that found the kid wandering the streets. He actually tried to pocket some money off her, but she caught him. She's a trader at the docks, that's a shrewd businesswoman and taught him the value in picking the right mark.
Yona Thornwood: (he/him) twin to Yoni. He creeps him out to be honest. Though he trusts him to keep a secret, and he honest with cards.
Yoni Thornwood: (she/her) Twin to Yona. She creeps him out to be honest. He trusts her to spread a good rumor around town overnight, and to take all his money if they play cards.
Jan Thornwood: (she/they) the blacksheep of the family. Was a kid that never fit too well with the family, and was interested in Alamosa since an orphan might understand. Yeah that didn't happen. Once she stopped trying to be his friend, she made a point of just being better than him at everything he wanted to do. Sleight of hand? Running cons? She ruined his games every. single. time. That's when the feeling of hate became mutual. He really doesn't get her hate for him. She basically comes up with a new reason every time he asked. This culminated in her committing an act of arson on his favorite gambling house. Then promising that the next time they met, she was going to actually kill him. He won't admit it, but this scares him. She was always better than him, and as he sees it, he's a dead man walking.
Allies Win: (he/him) a troublesome pixie that Alamosa met when he was 16. Though the circumstances of their meetup were unfortunate. He was rolling hot in a back alley when a strange man put the Pixie up in an attempt at an all-or-nothing bet. He cheated, but hey the stranger never caught him. Now the two are inseparable, with Win constantly getting Alamosa in trouble. The gunslinger thinks it's hilarious, and that just encourages Win.
Bren: (they/them) an assassin that Alamosa found left for dead in an alley. He doesn't know how old they are, but they seem close in age. Bren's the quiet type, which was put to the test when Alamosa dragged them to the Thornwood's. After being patched up they promised to help look into the assassination attempt on his family 10 years ago.

Family Ties

The Martin Family was one that he remembers clearly. They were part of a wealthy trading company, it's a secret that the reason for their death was due to their hard crack down on piracy. Jack Martin: (He/Him) Maria Martin: (She/Her) Isabella Martin: His younger sister, she was 6 when she died. He owes a lot to the Thornwoods, they're his family too. Well, besides Jan. If he could, he would help Jan. But he doesn't fully understand her hate for him and is unable to.

Religious Views

Worships Avandra. Not purely for good luck, but worships her in fear that she could give him a really rough spurn of bad luck. Besides that, he doesn't care too much about the other gods. By all means, if one offered him some kind of bet he'd take it.

Social Aptitude

Fucking hates playing politics. However, reading motives and deceit over a round of cards? He lives for that. There's an air of arrogance that comes with with dealing with nobles. There's no quicker way to piss him off then with an ounce of condescendence.

Mannerisms

Pauses to think a lot. When doing so he adopts his classic poker face. He only has one sure-fire tell, he blinks at regular intervals when nervous. Only people really close to him would notice it.

Hobbies & Pets

Due to his low aptitude with magic, and the lack of actual physical strength he's been training with firearms for the past couple of years. There was also the added benefit that guns were the one thing that Jan refused to pick up and use.

This Brazen gambler sure doesn't know when to walk away, but has done plenty of running.
