Personal history

Born into a humble Jeanette family of shipwrights and carpenters, Nico grew up on the docks of Elamyar helping to build ships and furniture, getting to know and befriend it's workers, becoming a prominent member of the community. One day as the sun was setting and the fishing boats were coming in, a kraken attacked the docks. During the panic Nico rallied the dockworkers to defend and repel the monster. After word of her heroism and leadership spread, it soon caught the eye of the local Navy stationed at Elamyar and they offered for Nico to join them.
Under Vice Admiral Edna Locke, Nico and one other, Dario DeGroot, rose through the ranks to captain. Locke and Nico grew close and shared the same humbleness and hospitality. Vice Admiral Locke gifted Nico and Dario two unique swords one to each as they became captains. Nico did not always beat Dario in combat at first during their times as cadets but she soon bested him and kept on so. He grew jealous after the constant and never ending defeats and harbored a growing hatred that later turned into betrayal.
During the taking of Stilllight, Nico and Locke choose to disobey orders and protect the town while Dario complied. Dario saw to it that Nico's and Locke's disobedience and traitorous actions were known and the two were stripped of their rank. Locke in order to protect Nico took the full brunt of it and was executed, leaving Nico dishonorably discharged.
But intelligence officer June Eastmond, who served under Locke and Nico, after witnessing Locke's death, saw to do right by her. Giving Nico her sword and directions to her brother Salomon, a hermit fishermen, to get back onto her feet and figure things out. During her time with Salomon, Nico and him grew a friendship along with a friendly rivalry and bonding over food, drinking and fishing.
Now after witnessing the Navy's cruelty first hand, Nico now sets out to protect the innocent and fight back against the World Coalition. As she believed her mentor would have wanted.

Mental Trauma

Horrified by the events of the taking of Stilllight and guilt-filled by the selfless actions of Vice Admiral Locke saving her from execution.

Morality & Philosophy

Before joining the Navy, Nico was joyous and humble. She had no real feelings towards the Navy or the Coalition but focused more on the individual. After the taking of Stilllight she lost herself and became guilt ridden, later having more of a proactive mindset against the Coalition. Her time with Salomon helped her return to herself but the events still left its mark. She still holds on to the humbleness of her origins and mentor, she still is genuine about her joyfulness but wears a mask to hide her hurt. She knows that not all of the Navy is evil or amoral but has to fight back, she will kill but still offer those of the Navy to walk away or join her.

Contacts & Relations

• Dario DeGroot- Tiefling (Red skin, tall horns, slicked back silver hair, pencil mustache and goatee, black eyes), 76 years old. A slick but pompous and prideful man who hates to lose. Come from a wealthy Coalition family, joined the navy as a young man to keep up the family name and reputation. Wields a two handed saber of similar make and origin like Nico's sword, gifted to him by Vice Admiral Locke. A jealous rival to Nico who almost always bested him even as cadets. During the taking of Stilllight Isle, he was the one to take the glory of subduing the "traitors" Captain Jeanette and Vice Admiral Locke and achieve the success of "defeating" the natives, claming the land in the name of the Coalition.

• June Eastmond- Firbolg (warm Brown fur, light blue eyes, and long warm black hair), 146 years old. A kind, curious and intelligent woman who joined the Navy to learn about the world and its history and development. A rare firbolg member of the Navy as a intelligent officer. Served under Admiral Locke along with Nico, looked up to and admired Locke. As Admiral Locke took the full responsibility and punishment during the events of the taking of Stilllight Ilse to allow Nico to walk away alive, June saw to do Locke right. June managed to get Nico her sword that was gifted to her and directions to her eldest brother Salomon.

• Salomon Eastmond- Firbolg (Brown fur, light blue eyes, long messy warm black hair and beard with bits of grey), 357 years old. A wise but apathetic and somewhat hedonistic man who chose a life of solitude and nature rather than get caught up in the outside world and its chaos. A hermit living outside of civilization, content with fishing the day away and a good drink with the company of animals. Took Nico in after her dishonorable discharge from the Navy. Spend time with her and talk things out, helping the then distressed and lost woman. Growing close as friends with the years together fishing, talking and drinking, starting up a friendly rivalry with silly competitions.

Mannerisms

Humble, joyful camaraderie and delightful, always wanting people to have a smile and a part of the family but keeps her trauma and guilt from others eyes. Though someone keen could tell that she does have hurt and baggage, she masks it fairly well.
