Splintering of the Raqui

While the Whispering Ones and remained imprisoned, their servant races remained, and the Guardians continued their task of exterminating them, finding unexpected help from one of the Darkspawn races.

The Guardians and the Metalborn continued their policy of wiping out the Darkspawn, the various races that formed from the biomass of the Whispering Ones. Yikt’Al, leader of the Guardians, begins a campaign to wipe out the last Darkspawn races, and bring final order and stability to Telarith.    The Metalborn armies march out and begin to exterminate the many servants of the Darkspawn, when Yikt'Al is suddenly approached by the leaders of a small and outcast Darkspawn race, known as the raqui. The raqui were a weaker and lesser race of Darkspawn, and fled into smaller corners of the world. Seeing that the Metalborn would emerge victorious one way or the other, the leaders of the raqui, Kurrigos, Merrania, and Aji'n, came to the Guardians, expressing a desire to serve them.   After much deliberation, Yikt'Al and the other Guardians agree to use the raqui in thei war. The raqui are blessed by a specific Guardian, and split into three main races.    Ishra blesses those under Aji’n, who become the snake-like aji to rule the jungles, charged with guardiang the tropical wilds. Sa’judthus blesses Kurrigos and his followers, who become the oroc’mac to protect and build swamps and marshes. Finally, Leisraen blesses the followers of Merrania whom become the aqui, to rule the seas and oceans.   Teh raqui began each settled their own territories, and fought and exterminated the former Darkspawn in these areas. In time, the different raqui races would develop unique cultures and beleifes, forgetting that they even came from the same source.
