Findariel

One of the three personified deities of the North, Findariel is the Goddess of the Wilds and the Mistress of the Hunt. Her domain encompasses both hunter and prey, as well as the wild forests of Elyria (for this reason, her myths often depict the Fox King as her antagonist).   The tales told about Findariel frequently highlights the importance of cunning and understanding the mind of your prey over rigid honour. For example, one story tells of Findariel making a bet with the Fox King that if she could evade the Wild Hunt, he would give her his bow. She then uses every trick at her disposal to evade the wild hunt, using tunnels and trees, hiding in briarpatches and flying high into the sky, ultimately leading them on a futile chase until dawn, with Findarial acquiring the bow of the Fox King, which she named the Dawn Bow in honour of her victory, a weapon that became legendary.   Priests of Findariel monitor the wildlife in the surrounding woods, ensuring hunting remains sustainable long-term and treating any illnesses or injuries from failed hunts.   Prayers to Findariel are often made by hunters and travelers through the woods. Those eating wild-caught game usually say a prayer of thanks to Findariel before eating. In more extreme cases, anyone being pursued may utter a prayer to the Mistress of the Hunt to give them the cunning and tenacity to escape. Soldiers who have been defeated and routed but escape the battle pray to Findariel as they try to evade capture or death.
