The Five Gods of the North
The pantheon of the Northern Gods was established by the Dragon King, who gave the Five Gods their names. Previously, the religion of the North was shamanic and worshipped nameless elemental concepts and celestial bodies - primarily fire, the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars. The Dragon King was inspired by the named Southern gods, and gave each of these forces its own name and divine identity, thus establishing the Five Gods of the North.
The worship of the Northern Gods was forbidden under the Kaimundian Empire, who bought their own pantheon of nine gods with them. However, like all aspects of Imperial rule, this was heavily resisted by the people of the North, and Micholm is the only Northern nation that retains a sizable contingent of worshippers of the Nine Gods, having been under Imperial rule the longest, and having the most interchange across their southern border with the lowlands.
