Austemveig
"Austemveig was a village like any other, except that it was far from the comforts of the great cities. Somewhere in the heart of the southlands, it's inhabitants were simple folk who toiled away in a monotonous existence. For the most part, they were happy with this life but their youth was known to wish for greater things. Most notable among these youth was Eren Tolkus who would leave his home to live a life of adventure.
Aside from being Eren Tolkus's birthplace, Austemveig is only notable for how incredibly mundane it is. Magical things never seem to happen in or around the town, and magical creatures never happen to visit. A fact which made most of the hum-drum villagers quite happy.

The village was supposedly founded by a boisterous man named Marco who had the biggest goat in the region. A goat he supposedly rode from Sommergard until he found a place to call home. Marco and his goat were plagued by all sorts of monsters and horrible creatures until finally the found a place where the monsters would stay away, far off the path and into the woods. So he called it Austemveig, or Off the path.
True or not, the village is actually built on the site of an ancient battleground. The traces of which have long been destroyed by time. Old magics were used during the battle, which has left the local area untouched, and untouchable by magic.
