Elemental Trade
Ever since the invention of the Elemental Engine, a booming industry has developed dedicated to the capture and sale of the elementals that roam the Prime Material Plane. Though magic exists to summon/conjure elementals from their native planes, summoning them permanently is extremely costly. It is much cheaper, then, to rely on elementals found on the Prime Material Plane. Those that seek out and capture elementals are known as Elementores.
Not all elementals are equally useful to the Elemental Trade, since the focus is on the creation of Elemental Engines. Below is a brief description of the relative value of each elemental to the Elemental Trade:
Fire Elementals:
Fire Elementals are by far the most sought after elementals. It is relatively easy to convert their fiery energy into forward locomotion in elemental engines.
Water Elementals:
Water Elementals are the second most sought after elementals by the elemental trade. Their watery bodies can be used (with the proper alignment and motivation) to move forward paddle wheels and turbines to create mechanical energy. They have become even more valuable after the creation of the elemental steam engine, which creates mechanical energy through the combination of a fire and water elemental in conjoined chambers.
Air Elementals:
Air Elementals are the third most valuable elemental type. They are exceedingly difficult to catch, and their utility in elemental engines has not been fully explored as of yet.
Earth Elementals:
Earth Elementals are the least valuable elemental to the trade, primarily because no use has been discovered for them in the creation of elemental engines.
