The Rite of Redemption
The Rite of Redemption is the process by which many of the Vampires of Tellandria were created. It was one of the most sacred religious practices of the Church of Dusk leading up to and during the Dusk War.
The Rite of Redemption was first undertaken by Mateo Salazar, the King of Salvone after he made a pact with Dreina, the Dusk Queen. Following his transformation, many more soldiers and aristocrats in Salvone underwent the Rite, becoming vampires themselves.
The Rite of Redemption is not the only way that Vampirism can be contracted, but it is the quickest as it utilizes divine magic to create vampires.
Due to the destruction and bloodshed wrought by the Dusk War, the Rite of Redemption is extremely taboo, and those found guilty of performing this ritual are punished most severely.
