Ossessian

The Ossessian is the leader of the Ichik'ryu, and holds decidedly more political power than the number of his followers would suggest. This is because he is in possession of the keys to the cult's extensive coffers. It is his responibility to shephard his flock; the bucks all stop with him.

The Ossessian has been insinuated into Taishando Lizardfolk political spheres simply by virtue of his access to resources. He uses his considerable influence to further the Ichik'ryu's agenda of bringing all Lizardfolk into the fold.

Qualifications

The culture reveres elders so much, that it is usually an elderly Lizardman that takes the Holy Seat. It must be a man that takes the seat, no females are allowed in the clergy.

Requirements

The Ossessian needs to be male, literate, and a clergyman of The Ichik'ryu.

Appointment

The Ossessian is appointed by the Ichik'ryu council of elders, after a full vote of the patriarchs.

Duties

The Ossessian is the leader of the Ichik'ryu, and the protector of their faith. He plots and schemes within government rulings to always further the cause of his people, tiny percentage of the population though they may be. It is he who settle disputes within the church, deploys assets appropriately, and holds services on High Holy Days. It is the Ossessian who holds the keys to the Ichik'ryu treasure vaults.

Responsibilities

The Ossessian speaks for his people as a whole; he is the face as well as the head of the church. He must maintain a position within the King's court in order to influence current events in such a way as they turn out beneficial to the Ichik'ryu. He must deal with heads of state, and envoys from other religious orders. It is he who writes the letters that are quoted during sermons, and often enshrined into law.

Benefits

The Ossessian enjoys a plethora of perks with his job, including rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. He has access to food every moment of his life, and is the only member of the church who is not whip-thin as a result of their asceticism.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The stole of the Ossessian is the only nod toward materialism in the entire cult. It is worn on special occassions, and state dinners, etc.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Only the council of the elders, a quorum of all of the tribal patriarchs associated with the cult, can remove or indeed install, the Ossessian.

History

The first Ossessian was a brilliant Lizardman, whose name is lost to time and the Lizardfolk's lack of cohesive records keeping. However, over the years the Ossessian has influenced decisions, good and bad, which affect the Taishando Lizardfolk as a whole.
