Incarnates

Some say, long ago in the Deorum Expergiscere era, the Gods sometimes split themselves, much like a Wizard or Artificer may split themselves to create homunculi. These caused fragments of the Gods to be born as normal mortal beings.
These mortals would seem and believe themselves to be just the same as any other mortal being, however, with the right circumstances they may awaken fractions of the God's power. Incarnates, unlike true mortals cannot stay in the afterlife forever, eventually they will be reborn upon the world once again, particularly within the island of Tempricida.
It's unknown how real this myth is, those claiming to be an incarnate are more often than not, liars looking for power within their cult. But those who do believe it, often hypothisise that these Incarnates would be key to reawakening the Gods.
