Matri
She Who Binds Us Together is not a Goddess ever said to have much role in Tempricida, a minor Goddess prayed to at wedding ceremonies before the sleeping perhaps.
But in Matri, her presense is overwhelming, in spite of her sleep. All born in Matri, by their age of maturity, must be married, if you do not find a partner, the clerics and any Paladins shall choose for you. If you refuse, you are sacrificed.
A town mostly populated by Dragonborn, with a strong assumption of the married couples spending all their time together.
Matri has a variety of traditions regarding marriage, it's importance permiates every aspect of the culture. A major example being how the village chooses and raises Paladins; any two unrelated children born on the same day are said to be made for each other and ordained by Matri herself to be a perfect example for others. They are married to one another by the age of five years old and raised mostly by the clerics of the town.
Around two centuries ago, the town experienced a terrible tragedy where one of these Paladins fell from their oath due to an affair with a woman named Rezena Onyxpearl. The history of this is mostly detailed within the museum, but the consequences were over a century of bloodshed as the Oathbreaker turned Death Knight Saphara Shinescales drew legions of undead, including vampires, to the village in order to destroy it following murdering her husband.
80 years ago, the Death Knight Saphara finally ceased her rampage on Matri, vanishing somewhere.
Lately, someone has been picking off those out alone at night. Perhaps some kind of curse by the Goddess in her sleep. Or simply a serial killer. Some worry it's Saphara returning to the village to continue her desire to destroy the whole town. Thankfully, Matri has many who train as fighters to protect the town and their partners, so they will hopefully be able to move past this tragic situation soon.
