The floating isles
10,000 ft is the limit for comfortable and unfamiliar
20,000 ft would experience shortness of breath and dizziness but be fine
with this in mind the isles could float at about 8,000-11,000.

Geography
The terrain differs from island to island but as a general rule they are more flat than the surface ground, though the isles often form tall mountains instead of small hills. Usually the isles only develop small lakes and ponds closer to the center of the island. Usually the isles dont flood but in the rare occasion that they do it is incredibly dangerous as there is only open sky surrounding the isles. They are very beautiful sights filled with dense forests, open fields, and large caves and rock formations that spark wonder in those who look upon them from the ground.
Ecosystem Cycles
The isles dont follow typical seasons as they move around in the sky as the wind changes. If it passes across a place in summer, then the seasons on the isle will shift towards summer, etc. this makes the isles quite unpredictable, though the stronger the winds are the more unpredictable the seasons and weather become. This leads to birds migrating to other isles seemingly randomly throughout the year, multiple shorter hibernations, and people being prepared for the change at anytime.
Localized Phenomena
The isles are very often struck by lighting due to being so high up in the sky, this also makes islands rich in conductive metals nearly uninhabitable. During rain storms the isles are nearly impossible to flood as all of the water will drop off of the sides creating a huge waterfall effect and a patch of dry weather on the ground underneath the isle.
Fauna & Flora
Many birds and small burrowing creatures inhabit the isles and usually don't contest much for food as the isles are fairly abundant in fruits and nuts.
History
No one is really sure how the floating isles came to be or who the first settlers were. Some of the isles have very old ruins on them suggesting settlement even before BOA (time period) began. Around the end of BOA, just before a century long dark age, some written records are still kept of when the floating isles were first discovered by the ground-dwellers and many horrible massacres were commmited.
(Not known in world: at the dawn of temprata some of the deity’s were discontented with the main landmasses set structure of time and place and set out to create smaller masses with more chaos in the sky. These isles were the reason the gods crafted birds and avian creatures as the Islands needed inhabitants. Eventually some ground-dwellers managed to find their way up to the isles, with the help of giant birds, and massacred many of the people who originally lived there. This is why many avian beings are found on the ground and Luxorns are found on the isles.
Tourism
Many people dream of seeing the isles but very few actually manage to visit as an avian creature is required to visit. Those who do visit usually go during dry and still seasons as its more safe. Most people want to see the isles because they’ve always seen the floating bits of earth in the sky and though there must be something truly amazing on top. Many children also want to see them because many books have the protagonists being island hoppers, traveling between them seeing great things.
