Rossokin Vampirism Condition in Teneberilla | World Anvil

Rossokin Vampirism

Transmission & Vectors

People can be transformed into a Romanov Vampire if a Romanov Vampire bites them and drains them completely of blood.

Causes

An ancient fairy curse.

Symptoms

Those afflicted become vampires. The blessings and curses go like this.
THE GIFT AND CURSE OF SWEET: Given in the form of a fruit. Grants the afflicted increased senses, to better hear, see, and feel. The curse added was that these senses would be far too acute and could overwhelm the person.
THE GIFT AND CURSE OF SAVORY Given in the form of beef. Gives the blood of the afflicted the ability to heal and invigorate those who drink it, inside them or out. The curse added was the need to consume the blood of others as they no longer produce their own.
THE GIFT AND CURSE OF SALT Given in the form of fish. Gives the afflicted enhanced speed and strength. Locks them into the last emotion they felt when they died, and grants them their fairy weaknesses. The afflicted cannot cross purified salt, cannot touch cold iron, and are effected by other fae-targeted spells.

Treatment

Vampire's Bane will work, as will very advanced curse removal arts of fae origins.

Prognosis

When first turned, Romanovs tend to be a bit testy and stuck with whatever negative emotions they felt when they died. As they mature, this tends to subside. Also, while a Romanov can be turned after actual death - as long as the corpse is still fresh - they will often experience rigor mortise and other painful afflictions that leave them crippled for a while.

Sequela

Having an immunity to most illnesses, the sequela here is actually less likely to acquire sickness.

Prevention

The only way to prevent the spread of this is not getting bit.

Epidemiology

Romanovs, much like most clans, used to spread very quickly. However, they now spread fairly slowly as they are monitored and controlled by the Vampiric Law.

History

Long ago, a human found himself in the world of Faeries. As they felt pity for him, they offered him one of 3 foods to eat, saying that whichever one he chose would give him a power. The man chose one, and in the night ate the other two. The faeries, infuriated with what he had done, added a curse for each one of the foods he ate, before kicking him out.

Cultural Reception

Like most vampires, if people are aware of Romanovs they tend not to like them. Most vampires tend to try and avoid the Romanovs to begin with.
