Kingdom of Wa

This nation was founded long ago after the migration of many sun elves, or Yōsei, from what is now the Empire of the Great Temuj. This occurred due to the sun elves' rampant persecution in the lands of Great Temuj and found their home amongst the native human population. Eventually, by the time that the Latonan Empire came to Wa, the entirety of the human population had gone extinct due to intermingling with sun elves. The Latonan Empire coveted the lands of the great island of Wa and many of the Versipellis from the Empire had settled in the area.
Due to the mystical nature of Wa, the Versepellis of the Latonan Empire eventually mutated to resemble various mythical creatures from Wa's mythology. Some say this was the will of the gods that were formerly worshipped in Wa or the various spirits that inhabit the land magically mutating the imperial citizens that came to inhabit the land. Most people are uncertain, but what is certain is that the Versepellis of the land go by the title of Bakemono.
Right before the fall of the Latonan Empire, Wa began a cultural revolution and soon asserted itself independent of the decadence of the Latonan Empire. Although major powers of the Empire were tempted to temper the crowds of the rising nation of Wa, the Empire decided not to quell the revolutionaries due to the Bakemono's ability to keep their fertility rate, horrific weather conditions blocking the entrance to Wa, and a great many imperial citizens having gone "native." This would result in not just the autonomy of Wa, but the creation of the Wa as a nation. This was solidified by the crowning of the Heavenly Emperor Hikohohodemi and the creation of the Empire of Wa.
Not long after the destruction of the Latonan Empire, and the death of the Greater Kami, the Empire of Wa would give in to the rampant corruption and decadence of its own noble elite like its previous imperial conquerors. This would eventually result in a military coup of the nation's elite in 35 E.D. and the restructuring of the nation into a Shogunate. However, recently the entire nation of Wa has disseminated into Civil War following the death of the previous Shogun, Awa Rintaro who lived to 1200 years of age, by his son, Awa Kaishu. The bickering and conflicting reasonings behind each daimyo to unify behind a possibly new eternal leader fractured the nation entirely into warring states ruled by the local Daimyo fighting for endless control of Wa.
In the year 1262 E.D., the Circle of Black Star assisted in the deposition of the Shogun of Wa, who had been a reincarnated Katsu Kaishu and an archon of Sheol. However, the killing blow would come not from the Circle but from Kaishu's own hands by an ashwood katana given to him by Adrammelech. It was after this event that Kenzou-Omikami would be crowned God Emperor of Wa. This was met with heavy criticism from the fearful daimyos of Wa as soon after this event, another civil war was declared as Kenzou vacated his throne to his ward, Sakamoto Ryouma.
It was thanks to Sakamoto's swift charismatic maneuvers that he was able to quell the violence in his country and eliminate many of the demonic cultists, that were daimyos, in his country. After this, he set up a legislature in Wa with further plans for democracy in the country in the following decades as the country is experiencing economic and democratic increases in the decades after both civil wars.

Structure

The nation is ruled by several damiyo vying for control of the island of Wa as a whole. Underneath them are the various military leaders and samurai that patrol the nation.

Culture

Currently, Wa's damiyo have opened relations to Temujans and many of Wa's people have engaged more frequently in their own spiritual and religious activities.

Demography and Population

Total Population: 16,000,000~

Racial Demographics: Mostly sun elves and Versepellis, some half-elves/half-versepellis, and some Yadan. Yadan in this nation are called Oni and are depicted as wicked and strong people. It is for this reason that most Oni are mercenaries serving under a shogun's army.
