Holidays
The Slow Burn
On the anniversary of the Purifier's sacrifice, Pinions will light a candle rendered from a sacrificial animal. The candle is made to last, often flickering for upwards of 14 hours before finally fizzling out. During this holy day, Pinions set aside their other tasks and devote themselves to contemplation. Families gather together around the candle and rest. All silently watching the candle burn down. It reminds them to take time. It gives them an opportunity to connect through presence and not action or word or deed. Just being. It reminds them of the isolation of their own self, while contrasting it against the togetherness of knowing all of the dominion is devoting themselves to this same pursuit.
