Forden uprising
Forden is a planet in the rim systems. It was settled by a mining company 15 years ago as the planet was rich in uridium. The company set up two settlements on the planet surface and began bringing settlers and workers to the planet. At first everything went well, however the company began taking short cuts on safety procedures and many of the amenitiess they had promised the settlers never arrived.
The company representatives on the planet treated the settlers almost as indentured servants and discontent grew amongst the workers. Several complaints to the head office back on earth produced no results as their complaints fell on deaf ears. After the death of 14 workers in a mining accident that could have been easily avoided, the settlers decided they had had enough.
It started with the settlers refusing to work, but after the company forced them back to work at gunpoint and a supposed misfire resulted in another death the situation escalated. A sympathetic member of the company's security detail gave the workers access to the armoury and the workers armed themselves.
Their hope that the company would give in to their demands rather than start a fire fight was shortlived. The settlers had hunkered down in the mines and a security deatil was sent in to try and get them out and disarm them. After holding out for several days, with deaths on both sides, the workers realised that the only way they would get their lives back was to take the fight to the company.
They stormed the company offices in a bloody battle which saw the body count pile up. However the settlers were ventually successful and the non military members of the company eventually surrendered. The workers had managed to get transmissions out to the independent settlements on the nearby planets.
After a few days the company landed a larger force on the planet and a three day siege began. Just as the settlers were about surrender, reinforcements arrived to aid them. Led by no other than Booth Draven and Dhidai Suten-Rekh-Aka. The company realised that they stood no chance against this new force and backed off. By then the public had been made aware of what was going on on the planet and the company was forced to give up on their claim as various other government powers, including both the Qhigu and Ecai put pressure on the company to release the planet to thew settlers.
