The Age of Automatons has ended, and with it, the enslaved humans are no longer beholden to their former and mostly deceased masters. Previously magicked into minimally-thinking, emotionless, apathetic people that followed the word of the mages that they were assigned to, automatons struggle to find their place in a world that both fears and pities them.
