Azher'Tek Names

Tek names derive from the Morilanic language. Initially, these names were either chosen by Tek individuals who had undergone conversion and forgotten their previous identities, or they were assigned by Mordred himself.   When Tek individuals chose their names, they aimed to reflect their greatest attributes. For instance, a skilled blacksmith might select a Morilanic word associated with their craft, such as "Metal," and combine it with the word "Crafter" to form the name "Crafter of Metals." Similarly, a talented sculptor could choose the word "Statues" and combine it with "Sculptor" to create the name "Sculptor of Statues." This process of selecting a "chosen name" enabled the Tek to maintain much of their existing personality, unlike those who had names assigned to them.   When names were assigned by Mordred, the Tek's personality would undergo a transformation to align with the meaning of their new name. This change occurred due to the influential power of Morilanic names.   In terms of naming conventions, there is a distinction between male and female names. Girls inherit the second half of their mother's name, while boys inherit the second half of their father's name. For instance, if the father's name is Torm'Uldan and the mother's name is Lys'Vara, their children would be named Kar'Uldan (boy) and Vel'Vara (girl). This tradition results in name endings that are traditionally associated with each gender.   As children were also named by their parents, inheriting half of their names, they too became shaped by the meaning of their names. This led to interesting new types of Tek being born. While some names would lead to individuals becoming incredibly specialized and useful, others would doom their bearers to forgoing their greatest interests in service of the greater populace, relegating their passions to hobbies to be engaged in after work. This caused a caste system, where Tek were judged by the meanings of their names and their possible usefulness to the group.
