Tiefling
Tieflings are mortal humanoids whose lineage ties to the fiends that inhabit the plane of Dolor. Like many of the other Planetouched Races, tieflings can be born from parents of nearly any race, and tend to retain the qualities of their parentage in addition to those of their infernal ancestry, including size and general build.
Appearance
Tieflings can vary wildly in appearance, though they can often be identified by a number of physical characteristics that are distinctly fiendish in nature; a pair of horns are most common, typically beginning to grow during adolescence, but other noticeable traits may include unusual skin tones (bright red, blue or purple being most common) cloven hooves in place of feet, and the presence of a long tail. Less noticeable characteristics may include unusual eye or hair colors, elongated canine "fangs" or claw-like fingernails.Traits and Abilities
Tieflings often display a variety of unique abilities tied to their fiendish heritage, such as an ability to resist high temperatures or to innately cast certain types of magic. Many tieflings are also able to innately read and understand the Infernal language without any prior study or tutelage, implying that the language itself may be magical in nature, allowing it to "imprint" itself on those belonging to a fiendish lineage.History
Much like their celestial counterparts in the Aasimar, tieflings have been observed to exist in various cultures throughout Teranuz, with their presence not being limited to a single race or region. Some tieflings are the direct offspring of a mortal and a fiend, while others aresimply born to two mortal parents who presumably bear some recessive fiendish lineage in one of their bloodlines. In some regions, such as the Hegian Empire in Crestfall, tieflings are commonly treated with an unfair degree of distrust and scrutiny due to their demonic appearance and strange powers; in other locales, such as the free city of Drakmort, tieflings are subjected to less prejudice. In the Underdark, a comparably high percentage of Drow are born with tiefling characteristics, implying that the Drow cities may exist in close proximity to an undiscovered Convergence Zone leading to he plane of Dolor.Notable Tieflings
