The Pankake Islands
Tucked away at the mouth of the English Channel are three tiny Scandinavian islands. Formed by a now extinct volcanic system, the Islands of Butter, West Flapjack, and East Maple are home to people, Niadla, pixies, and tree guardians. The central island, West Flapjack, holds the capital, and is equal parts forest and plain. The oldest, easternmost island, Maple, is densely forested and hardly populated. The western Island, Butter, is mostly farmland, and contains many tiny farming communities.
History
The country was first settled by pre-vikings 2500 years ago.
Military
The Pankake Islands are a highly militaristic state. Despite sanctions from neighboring countries, the aggressive nation refuses to halt its experimental weapons program. The military is highly trained, paid a lot of money, and one of the most elite in the world. Though not influential enough to be a world power, it likes butting its head into foreign wars, backing fascist countries and making world peace increasingly difficult.
Technological Level

Education
A public school system leftover from before Gunter Hogan Daweson is barely hanging on by a thread. Most schools are privatized. Any public institutions at all owe their existence to Gunter's conniving trophy wife, Hildebrand, who is actually a communist.
