Younger brother of Katha Kannet, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of Kannet Colonial Mining, and the corporation's second largest shareholder with 110 shares.
Widely considered to be the most 'corporate' and conventional of the three owners of the company, Gonsales is a business buzzword expert always ready to fall back on a TPS report or the need for another staff meeting to noodle over the learnings brought about by the latest paradigm. With a tendency to refer to everyone as 'chief', 'sport', or 'scooter' depending on their social status, Gonsales is often seen nodding with pursed lips in vague agreement before completely shooting down ideas or suggestions brought to him. What he lacks in cuddly social skills he more than makes up for in business acumen, however and runs the books at Kannet tightly and accurately with no tolerance for shenanigans of any kind. This is a huge undertaking, considering all the ins and outs of Kannet's financial pathways, and yet some people have hinted, from time to time, that perhaps Gonsales keeps an entirely different, 'real' set of books far away from the prying eyes of the Countess' auditors and tax collectors.
While certainly a wealthy man, Kannet chooses, like his sister, to live onsite on the top floor of the Kannet building. His is the southern penthouse with a commanding view of the Marleven Spur and the Indigo river where it empties into the sea, while Katha has the northern penthouse with its spectacular view of the entire city and the farming terraces further inland. His quarters are sparsely and stylishly decorated in a theme reflective of the fighting schools and tea houses of the Temple of Danildee, with tasteful gold accents along with the company colors of sky blue and deep orange dominating the decor. He keeps a personal staff of five: A steward, a governess (a day-shift teacher for his two sons), a chef, and two maids who also double as cooks or serving staff at corporate or private parties held in his penthouse. He is a more private and at times reclusive man than his sister, and only hosts private gatherings a few times a year rather than almost weekly as Katha does.

Growing up in the shadow of his ambitious and overachieving sister taught him to value the margins from a young age. He is an angle shooter simply from needing it as a survival tactic as a child, avoiding sibling rivalries by simply choosing to work with, rather than against, the interests of his sister.
Sexuality
Gonsales has been married to his wife Martanna ("Marti") for seventeen years, and they have two sons, Yosef (14) and Grigory (10). By all accounts he is heterosexual, and despite some rumors to the contrary, faithful to his wife. Rumors often circulate about him and their governess, but that seems not simply unlikely but physically impossible as she's only in the house during the day, when he's at work. Even at company outings where alcohol might make one a bit more lax or boorish, he and Marti seem to genuinely love each other and have a fulfilling emotional and physical relationship together. He appears to hold no particular prejudices regarding alternate sexuality in others.
Education
Privately schooled as an engineer, Gonsales was an excellent student and possesses a nearly arcane level of proficiency with mathematics, allowing him to become a bookkeeper with ease and to design new and innovative mining machines in his spare time. He holds a certificate of outstanding achievement from the Capital University as well, where he attended for two semesters on tax accounting and payroll.
Employment
The holder of the second largest pool of Kannet Colonial shares, Gonsales is assured a position at the company under any conceivable circumstance short of severe physical disability or a scenario in which his sister turns against him, which seems as unlikely as the possibility that he might be struck dead by a meteor. In turn he employs a staff of over a thousand individuals in the finance department, and as part of Kannet helps to keep nearly thirty thousand people employed and manages a payroll in excess of 1.5 million gold pieces per week in order to do so, with an average daily income of 50g. The payroll skews that high due to the large layers of lower and middle management as well as a small army of executives, but even the lowliest porters and rock carriers are paid a minimum of 2 gold per day, twice the wage of the average farm worker.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Gonsales has won dozens of academic and business awards as well as fellowship awards for his work with the city Magic Users Guild and his charity contributions to the Marleven Orphanage. He works closely with Sir Godfrey, the Orphanage's gnomish headmaster, and the Orphanage is one of the main suppliers of machine parts for various drilling, boring and mining machines used in the field.
Failures & Embarrassments
Gonsales is not a man who fails often, but he does have a knack for getting embarrassed. He doesn't mind challenging co-workers to games he knows he has little chance of winning, like darts, bocce ball and horseshoes, and in fact losing to his rivals in games they should win is one of his tactics for making friends, on the basis of psychic debt. On the other hand, he can count cards in his head and implicitly understands betting odds, dice odds, and any other sort of contest grounded in math, so losing one of those kinds of games is a real failure for him. Recently the only embarrassment to speak of was from his son Yosef getting detained by the Countess' Shadow Guard for stealing apples from the royal gardens; since Gonsales is not a member of the nobility the punishment should have been severe, but of course he intervened with a large donation to essentially buy the apple tree and pay for the crime. Yosef has not ventured anywhere near the Royal District since then.
