Atavaria
Atavaria is the name given to the large southern continent. It is the ancestral home of the elves, and a land filled with magnificent untouched forests, snowy mountain ranges, strange rock formations, and all-manner of mystical creatures that make their home in the dark, unexplored corners of the continent.
Once united under a single banner, Atavaria has become a group of scattered city-states each led by a powerful warlord. This rift was caused primarily by the shogun's decision to intervene during The Great Lich War which cost tens of thousands of Atavarian lives. While conflict between the nations have benefitted from a shaky peace for the last 50 years, imperialists groups have popped up around the major cities of the continent, urging its citizens to once again reunite (by force) under one single banner: that of the nation of Ito.
Geography
Atavaria is the third largest land mass on Terra, behind Abstral and Diladia. It is bordered by the Great Atavarian Sea to the west, and has a scenic but treacherous coastline that spans for hundreds of miles and is known for frequent typhoons and other strange weather events.
Atavaria has diverse climates and geographic features ranging from tropical in the north of the continent to deserts and icy valleys in the south. Monsoons are frequently found across the northern borders of the continent, with a large number of blizzards near the central mountain ranges of Atavaria. The mountains to the south have been rumored to be the birthplace of the dragons, although one has not been spotted in many decades.
The numerous unique rock formations found through Atavaria are also of note, as they are unique in their appearance across all of Terra. Stories talk of the ancient elves working the very earth to their whimsy, pulling up magnificent karst mountains up from the earth.
