The Last Frontier

The Last Frontier (aka The Gates to Hell) is an outpost located in the most eastern part of Elona; the outpost is a small fort surrounded by stone walls. Within the walls (other than the fort) is a large gate to the Elonian Underworld. Working as a checkpoint between worlds the guards and other Elonian officials dictate who enters and leaves the underworld.
The outpost is rigged with many defences to stop any possible unsavoury entities leaving the gate, the gate itself has been set up with an emergency closing mechanism in case that it needs to be closed quickly. The guards situated at the outpost are replaced very commonly due to mental health issues of being near the gate for extended periods of time, with guards rarely returning after being replaced.

Demographics

The guards that inhabit the outpost are guards mainly from the city of Malleusforte as they are the closest Major city that would be able to supply guards.

Government

Even though the guards are from Malleusforte the Elonian officials are from Divinity's Reach and take their orders from Lady Kiima herself.

Defences

The guards stationed are equipped in full Dwarven Steel armour and weapons. Many areas of the outpost have glyphs that are for protecting the structure and its inhabitants as well as runes that are used to trap or harm unwanted intruders.

Guilds and Factions

The Crown currently controls The Last Frontier however mercenary organisations have offered their services to be stationed at the outpost so that official guards can be stationed elsewhere. Lady Kiima has said that the gate to the Underworld is of high enough importance that official guards should be stationed at The Last Frontier.
