Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Due to a traditional approach, as well as less funding from the Great Western Empire than other Imperial Kingdoms, education is usually a community effort. In a neighbourhood of any size, where everyone knows everyone else, children are watched by everyone. This ensures that if one or both of the child's parents die, they will still be brought up by their "aunties" and "uncles" as a part of their families instead of becoming orphans.
Often, a child will be taught the oral histories and folklore of the areas they live in and the Clans that they belong to by blood or geographically. Usually they will be taught this by the older generations of the family that will spend the most time with the younger ones.
Common Etiquette rules
Frosian etiquette is based upon the ideals of "not judging a book by its cover", and so their welcoming culture is very famous even beyond the Great Western Empire. While family is important to all Korgs, in Frosian culture family is not bound by blood. Therefore it is customary in Frosian homes that if a visitor is welcomed warmly three times then they are forever treated as family.
Frosians have a great deal of respect for strength and hardiness which extends to other cultures and races as well. The strongest Frosians, usually males, are given higher places of power and influence. However, women have always been given a special place once they give birth to their first child. This shows how Frosians respects and celebrates the physical trials and risks that go side by side with pregnancy, and understands that no male warrior can even think of how strong you must be to bear life into the world.
Frosian etiquette is extremely loose and welcoming, peppered with euphemistic lexicon covering everything from unpleasant, violent, scandalous and sexual language with no social stigma. This loose attitude also translates into the realms of intercourse. Sex is quietly but enthusiastically celebrated in Frosian culture as healthy and beneficial.
Etiquette also extends to enjoyment of certain things, shown in ways other cultures of Elgerlia would find disturbing or disgusting. For example, the louder a belch or slurp when having a meal is an indication to the chef the level of enjoyment and appreciation the Frosian is having.
Art & Architecture
Frosian architecture is very considerate of the environment and nature around it. If the site where a building is to be constructed has any natural features such as caves, trees, boulders or running water, it will be incorporated to the design and structure of the architecture.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Marriage
As the bride leaves her chambers with her maidens to go to the ceremony, it is customary for the groom to have hired an old Bard to recite a poem for her. The nature of the poem should dictate how their marriage will plan out and it is known as the Bard's Blessing.
Divorce
In Frosian culture, divorce is both accepted and common in many circumstances as having bastards is highly taboo. The rituals of Frosian divorce have been developed to be extremely elaborate, especially after Skìrah joined the Great Western Empire and Common Law was integrated alongside Korg Law. Common Law also made marriage more legally-binding and so much stricter and so the elaborateness of divorce rituals gets around this.
Cuisine
Frosian cuisine is largely based on wheats and oats, with additions of locally farmed meats and animal resources (such as eggs and milk) being commonplace in most Frosian diets. In coastal settlements and locations on the Bekkar or Livvar Rivers, fish is also easily accessible for Frosians.
Alcohol
Frosians tend to drink vast amounts of alcohol, as Korgs are biologically more resistant to the effects. Drinks such as ales, meads, mulled wines and whiskeys are all brewed and drank locally in Frosian regions.
Coming of Age Rites
Families will celebrate every age transition at different levels of their life. Child to youth and adult to elder are given more extravagant birthday celebrations that youth to adult due to the symbolic importance these milestones have.
Funerary and Memorial customs
Since mercantile access to richer wines to the eastern realms of the Great Western Empire, it has become Frosian tradition to preserve the organs of fallen family members in jars of strong wine and kept in the home.
Ideals
Courtship Ideals
All cultures of Korgs, including Frosians, value oaths above most things, and therefore will only ever be in monogamous relationships. Even if one partner dies suddenly in battle, the mourner will never enter another relationship, having pledged an oath of courtship to the deceased. Loyalty and love are considered two of the same thing, with breaking one you will break the other. Because of this, bastard children are not seen as so useful as in some human cultures. A potential bastard child presented to a man, whether legitimate or not, will tarnish his reputation and his loyalty will be forever judged.
