White Dotted Deer

White Dotted Deer is the variant of deers in the Jungle of the Myst, originating deep in the northwest. They live throughout the jungle alongside any water sources, usually the Durn River, although they scatted further to the south. There can be spotted further down to the Dirwen.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The body isn't that special - about a meter high and 2 meters long. It has small antlers to avoid being struck in the messy, vinely landscape.

Genetics and Reproduction

With much quantity in the jungle, breeding occurs year-round. The demand for venison for carnivores is enough to supply a small civilization while not being hunted to its extinction.

Ecology and Habitats

It usually live in herds, inhabiting near the water sources like Durn River and Compass Lake.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It eats fresh grasses nearby the river as well as various types of forage such as nuts and fruits. They could even eat the Pepperfruit without any negative effect.

Behaviour

Deers are not friendly to humans. As soon as they feel the threat they can run and hide in almost an instant. In fact, they avoid everything in nature. The human is only the second apex predator in the jungle compared to a more native mammal, the king of the jungle, the Earth Jaguar.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Despite their unfriendly attitude toward humans, deers become one of the staple foods for Durni. The leather is also profitable Durnis use it for personal reinforcement and disguising

Hunting isn't that hard but requires patience. The hunters can use any handheld weapon, like which spears and bows seem to be the most effective. Booby traps can also be set, but usaully does on certain areas. They have to make sure only themselves, or else they would get something not to eat, but to mourn.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

The hide consist of white dots patterned on brown/yelllowish fur and black legs. It work as a camouflage for any predators especially the jaguar.
