Blood Plains
The Blood Plains are heathlands located between the borders of the Iron Empire and the Cairnlands. While once forested, most of the trees had been cleared generations prior, leaving only grasslands behind. The Blood Plains are vast, open and uncultivated with very little settlement from humans. Occasionally, shepherds will bring their flocks of sheep to the Blood Plains but only after an Imperial Victory. For the Blood Plains get their name for the battles that are fought on it between the Cairnlanders and the Iron Legions. The Cairnlords see the Empress as a threat and so they send armies of undead led by their Cairnknights to contest the Blood Plains with the Empress. There has been a stalemate between both sides for many years now, mostly skirmishes between the two fronts, with the occasional large field battle that takes place between them. There are very few large animals that survive long on the heath, as most are hunted for food. Most of the wildlife on the Blood Plains are birds that are native to both the Cairnlands and Northern Ceralus.
