Corva Militani was part of the Imperial Legions before she finished her terms of service. She had been stationed in Scarmouth, one of the young Imperials shipped off to the Jungles of Kar'ack to hold the port against the People of Sun and River and any devotees of the Shadowmaster that still lingered, seeking to further their fallen master's goals. With little else to do and the Legions offering her little but the same deal, she took herself to the life of a sellsword. Her military training and sturdy frame made her a prospective pick, but she ended up with the Band of the Unfettered Dawn, where she quickly showed an alertness and a tenacity that made her stand out among new recruits. She was quickly picked out to be part of the captain's bodyguard, and her experience in the military gave her the experience to lead his bodyguard in battle.
