In addition to the common infantry, the Band of Unfettered Dawn has a detachment of two-handed swordsmen in armor that are used to break line formations. These heavily drilled troops are trained to move quickly and overcome a traditional line with their heavy swords.

History
The Band of the Unfettered Dawn began its existence as a penal legion for the Old Iron Empire. It had often been placed in the front lines to dull the edge of the enemy forces during battles. This legion was deployed where it needed to be, particularly along the southern coast of the Shimmering Sea. Those who had been sent to the Legion were given little to hope for besides a promise that if they lived long enough to pay off their sentence, they'd be free. Few ever did. Deserters were made examples of.
During the Age of Storms, the Old Iron Empire had already begun to show signs of fracturing. It had grown too large, its legions too thin to adequately protect the furthest reaches. When the Age of Storms hit, the provincial magistrates tried to keep order, even as the world fell apart around them. The Iron Legions that marched with the penal legion were recalled to Ceralus. There were not enough supplies to bring the prisoners. They were left behind.
The Provincial Governor fled within the same month. The region fell to chaos. With little options and fewer friends besides their fellow soldiers, those prisoners decided to continue traveling, but not under others orders. They instead took on a new name to represent their freedom and the will to survive to the next day. The Band of the Unfettered Dawn was born from that decision.
