Honored Mother
The Honored Mother is the title that is given to the leader of a Merchant Family of a Jeweled City and all its cadet branches, including those family branches that exist in other cities. They are, essentially, the leader of both the Family and all their businesses.
Qualifications
The Honored Mother is usually chosen because of her success in managing her businesses and ledgers for the Merchant Family. She must have proved herself capable of both finances and intrigue, enough to protect their Family's interests from their rivals.
Requirements
As the Merchant Families are families, there is an element of bloodline involved in this as well.
Duties
The Honored Mother is expected to be the final decider for any business done or negotiations made on behalf of the Merchant Family, and will often deal with the big picture of inter-Family politics.
