The Duties of the Clerics of Rhemnys

Clerics of Rhemnys are responsible for teaching their crafts as well as spiritually encouraging the concepts of discipline, persistence, and hard work.   Clerics of Rhemnys may never abandon their crafting and are oath bound to teach their skills as the path of teaching also engenders learning.   Clerics are expected to share discoveries with their temple and with society as they are able. For this reason, Rhemnys clerics often work closely with the scientific community - or are scientists and engineers themselves.

Destroying projects or art is deeply frowned upon

Any act of creation, forging, or crafting is considered sacred

Worship

Major Areas of Worship

Most major cities have temples to Rhemnys, often located near guild areas or craft halls.  

Oaths

 They take the same oaths as the regular clerics but serve as more defensive personnel in times of conflict.  

Holidays

Every winter Crafters Day celebrates Rhemnys. Small handmade gifts are popular and given to family members and those held in esteem of the city.  

Common sayings and Blessings

“Fire of Rhemnys” serves as a typical blessing. More colloquially “Rhemnys’ fire!” is used as a mild curse.

Priesthood

Head of the Church

Ceaird Hanska Schwarz serves as the head cleric of Rhemnys temple in Novandria, called the Temple of the Everburning Forge.   The Temple of Rhemnys does not have an associated house for its clerics as the temple is decidedly devoted to crafting and worship of crafting. Hanska lives near the temple in their own workshop.  

Church Organization

Each temple organizes in a round table of leadership chaired by the head cleric, the Cearid. The temples become units unto themselves, each functioning on their own outside of rare instances where the temples collaborate on larger projects.   The temple has four ranks - Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master. The ranks are progressed through years of service and progression projects that exhibit their crafts to show mastery.   Rhemnys does have both paladins and monks, largely dedicated to creating weapons and armor.  

Clothing

For daily wear, Rhemnys clerics favor practical clothing for their chosen crafts. For temple, the clerics wear simple white, brown, or red robes depending on rank.The most common sign of one of the clerics is a tooled leather or metal belt depicting the anvils and fire Rhemnys is known for.  

Membership

 While those who choose a gendered lifestyle may be part of the clerics of Rhemnys, those who choose to declare themselves as non-binary are the only ones eligible as Master Clerics  

Typical Followers

 Rhemnys is popular among crafters, tinkerers, and the like. He has few followers outside this area though is often given offerings before major construction projects in cities, etc.
