Philippe Laval
Born: 1785
Died: 1878 (Age 80)
Philippe Ducharme was born in Avalon in House Allistaira which used to hold the North East coast of the islands with their strong naval presence. Philippe was born at the outset of the revolutionary wars and grew up listening to tales of his houses naval victories against the revolutionaries. But, by the time he was of age for a commission the wars hard turned to be a fight with the self-proclaimed Emperor Dumas. It was during his tenure in a comfortably safe officer position that he met Princess Eleanor of Montaigne. Intimidated by the young woman determined to regain her families lost crown as well as the army of suitors that included those with strong ties to Avalon’s royal house, he did not pursue her. Rather, she pursued him as the heir to a strong house whose strength could easily cross the channel.
Once wed, Philippe was the perfect King-Consort, happy to support his Queen in all their ceremonial duties and perfectly content to leave the crown’s political reins to her. He spent the years following their marriage patronizing the arts of various nobles and restoration projects of Montaigne architecture that was destroyed during the war.
After the assassination of his wife and daughter, Philippe reigned as Regent for Princess Valerie until her coronation seven years later. Afterwards he returned to patronizing the arts, leaving his only surviving daughter to forge her own path as queen.
