Personal history
Maldrek was part of the group of hero that stopped a once titan general from being released into the material plane from his abyssal prison. During the fight his fiancée sacrificed herself to keep more from being released and her remains cast into the abyss. In a last resort to beat the Thanatotic Tiatn that had gotten through the party used a gate scroll and physically pushed him through along with themselves. Maldrek and his twin sister were the only ones to make it back from the deepest parts of the abyss. After that he spent the 10 years to try to revive his fiancée to no avail. Which drove him to becoming a lich to try to help this never happen again and to find long forgotten magic to bring her back.
